Research Project for an MD student to determine the role of non-canonical G proteins in melanoma progression and therapy resistance This research project starts in October 2024 and is implemented in the RTG2816 (
https://www.rtg2816.com/ ). A scholarship will be given for 12 month, a minimum of 8 months full-time in the laboratory is required. The project focuses on understanding the role of Girdin and Daple in melanoma progression and resistance towards targeted therapies. The doctoral researcher will determine expression patterns of Girdin and Daple in melanoma patient biopsies by immunofluorescence. Furthermore, he/she will work on the identified signaling pathways and transcription factors involved in the regulation of Girdin and Daple expression and to characterize the role of identified splice variants in melanoma progression and therapy resistance in established 2D and 3D skin models. Our goal is to develop strategies to interfere with the development of therapy resistance in melanoma patients. The MD student will closely work together with a PhD student in the lab and other students in the RTG2816.
Medizinischer Doktorand Universität Tübingen
Activities and responsibilities
The MD student is integrated in the curriculum of the RTG2816, see website. He/she will do an experimental work in the lab, mainly doing cell culture, RNA and protein analysis, Immunofluorescnce and others. The MD student will on a regular basis present the data in the RTG seminars.
Qualification profile
The prerequisite for an application is an existing medical study (Medizinstudium) only in Tübingen.
The MD student should be familiar with cell culture wok and if possible other methods such as immunohistology/fluorescence, PCR, western blot. The student should be able to present the work in english. The MD student should study medicine in Tübingen. The project starts in October 2024. The MD student should take at least one semester off fom the study to work completely in the lab for at least 8 months full-time.
We offer
A stipend will be given to the MD student for 1 year. The MD student has to attend the RTG seminars and lectures for 2 years.
